There is no fixed implementation date yet, but on December 17 the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration announced at least one change that will have a major impact on temporary workers. The end of ‘flagpoling’!! According to IRCC, this practice uses significant resources at the border, distracts border officers from enforcement activities, and slows cross-border traffic. Another yet to be implemented change will see the end of Valid Job Offer points in Express Entry – to reduce the value of LMIAs and the fraud resulting from attempts to exploit the system.
