EXPRESS ENTRY: FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), also known as the Federal Skilled Worker Class, is a principal channel for international professionals and skilled workers aspiring to settle in Canada. Each year, this program sets the stage for thousands of newcomers to integrate into the country’s diverse workforce and contribute to its dynamic growth.

Who Can Apply?

FSWP is tailor-made for professionals and skilled workers across the globe, seeking to permanently settle in Canada, accompanied by their spouse or partner and dependent children. All you need are your skills, ambition, and the desire to build a prosperous future in Canada.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To apply under the FSWP via the Express Entry profile, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

Education

A minimum education equivalent to a Canadian high school diploma. If your education was completed outside Canada, an Educational Credentials Assessment (ECA) will validate your qualifications against Canadian standards.

FSW Points Grid

Candidates must score a minimum of 67 out of 100 points on the FSW points grid.

Settlement Funds

You must possess sufficient funds to support your settlement in Canada.

Remember, while meeting these requirements may make you eligible, it does not guarantee an invitation to submit an official application for Canadian permanent residence due to the competitive nature of the Express Entry system.

FSWP Advantages and Potential Disadvantage

Being an FSWP candidate comes with distinct advantages. Firstly, you do not need any specific connection to Canada; fulfilling minimum requirements for work experience, language proficiency, and education are all possible outside of Canada. Secondly, FSWP candidates account for the majority of invitations to apply, with more than half of all invitations issued in 2018.
However, there’s a caveat: even with eligibility for FSWP, receiving an invitation to apply is not guaranteed. If your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score falls short of the cut-off, we suggest consulting our guide on how to boost your CRS score.
